An interesting film about a young man, Luke, who has a medical condition that causes him to change sex when he gets an erection. The theme of involuntary instant transition has been played out plenty of times, but this version is done with a light humorous touch that I found fresh and interesting. However there is no morphing and no expensive effects and not much actual sex -- maybe that's why the film languishes outside of the popular lists.
Luke's problem starts when he is chatting up a girl in a restaurant and suddenly finds that he is growing breasts. He rushes out, horrified. Then there is a scene in a bar; a girl is playing pool with him, and when she slices the ball right into his genitalia, he doesn't feel a thing -- his male parts have disappeared.
A woman called Sydney knows about the condition -- called zerophilia, due to a chromosome abnormality -- that causes him to change sex whenever he has an erection. She tells him that he needs to let the transformation process take its course, and reluctantly, and with the help of some drugs, he does so. She says she is a doctor.
He wakes up as a complete woman; in this mode he is played by Marieh Delfino, who looks sufficiently like his male persona for the transformation to be believable. After checking out the new body parts, life goes on; but the inevitable complications ensue. But the transformation is always temporary, and Luke reappears as his old self again.
Luke's friends stand by him in this new role. But he hasn't got any female clothing, and in an interesting sequence a female friend buys him a dress for those spells when he is a girl.
But Sydney contrives to have sex with Luke and he turns fully into a woman, but there is something strange about what has happened to Sydney too ...
It's an interesting and entertaining film that doesn't try to explore any deep issues; pity it didn't make the big time.
