Wicker Man (1973, UK)

A police mystery with some good actors. A girl has gone missing, and a police sergeant goes to a remote Scottish Island to investigate. Repeatedly finding that his inquiries lead nowhere, he becomes aware of apparently pagan practices on the island.

Eventually, Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee) leads the island's people in a ritual procession. Everyone is in some sort of costume and Lord Summerisle himself is in drag.

But it was all a bit surreal for me, reminding me of The Prisoner where everything seems to happen according to a different set of rules to what applies on the planet earth.
