An Imgmar Bergman horror film, with too much surreal action for my taste; in black and white for added atmosphere.
An artist and his wife (Johan and Alma) set up household in a cottage on a remote island; their relationship with the landlord of the island and his family is eccentric, and leads in a surreal passage to the tenant being forcibly made up and partially dressed as a female.
I didn't understand any of it.
The English language (subtitled) version of the film is called Hour of the Wolf.
