Les Voleurs (1995, France)

Patchy and difficult film noir about a family involved in car theft; in fact the father has just been killed in a botched theft attempt at the beginning of the film, but there is a lot of flash-back material.

Part of the police investigation involves looking for a transsexual character, and inevitably we are treated to a short spell in a drag club, in which two "travestis" appear, played by Jean-Jacques Cravero and Badabou Niego, their only screen appearances so far as I know.

The film is known as Thieves and The Child of the Night in English.
