The Untransmittable Lily Savage Show (1997, UK)

Lily Savage doing a link in the show
A disappointing compilation video of Lily Savage performances.

Lily Savage is the character created by Paul O'Grady ... a hard-voiced, acid tongued woman from Birkenhead. Arising from a working men's club environment, the character was best performed on television as presenter of a studio celebrity quiz show, when the chemistry worked well. But O'Grady does not work well with scripts (or, incidentally, with other performers). In fact he obviously despises everybody, but especially stage managers and audiences.

In this compilation there are a few sequences when four-letter words slipped out, accidentally on purpose, during recording sessions for the BBC, and some other out-take material (already seen in out-take programmes on television) that really could have been left on the cutting-room floor. O'Grady provides linking material (as Lily Savage) in a tired and half-hearted manner.

It's an hour long, and almost entirely disappointing.
