Tatort is a long running and very popular German police series.
In this episode the action takes place in the "Tingelpalast", a seedy variety theatre where Nadja Forster is the manageress. The transvestite artiste Harriette Dimanche is a main attraction.
Nadja's wealthy father is a miser and when the theatre loses money, he interferes with the running of the place and threatens to take it away from Nadja. When he overhears her plotting with her married boyfriend to have him killed, he makes a tape recording and leaves it with his lawyer in case anything happens to him. Soon he is found dead in a swimming pool with head wounds.
