A homage to the stage career of the Three Stooges, an American team who played slapstick on stage and in many, many films, at their peak before World War II.
In the middle part of the film, there is a quick-fire reference to their film successes, and a brief snatch from the 1935 film Uncivil Warriors is reprised; in it Curley, here played by Michael Chiklis, is pretending to be a Southern Belle, during the American civil war.
