Tooth Fairy (2009)

Thompson in his tooth fairy attire
Dwayne Johnson plays Derek Thompson, a tough but aging minor league hockey player. He is with his girlfriend when her little daughter has lost a tooth, and in the morning she was expecting a dollar from the tooth fairy. Thompson forgot to put it under the pillow overnight, and he starts to tell the little girl that there is no such thing as the tooth fairy. His girlfriend doesn't want the little girl disabused of the fiction yet and gets angry.

Later Thompson is summoned by the Department of Dissemination of Disbelief to Toothfairy Land, where he will be punished by working as a tooth fairy for a spell. As part of the magical transportation, he arrives with wings and wearing this tutu outfit. He continues to wear it for several minutes, but he is allowed to wear a slightly more masculine outfit for his actual duties.

I thought it was nice to hear the Bristolian accent of Stephen Merchant playing Tracy, Thompson's (male) case worker. (In the world outside North America people sometimes feel that Americans know only North America; this film seems unusually aware of the rest of the world: for example in Toothfairy Land there is a big indicator of the progress of tooth fairy activity, and three of the locations are outside the USA.)
