That's My Wife (1929)

Stan getting ready in drag
A silent film. Oliver Hardy's wife is finally fed up with the fact that his friend, Stan Laurel, has been staying with them for ages, and she walks out.

A rich uncle is planning to leave all his millions to Hardy, but he is insistent that Hardy must be in a stable marriage, and he has come to call, never having met the wife until now.

Obviously the only thing is for Stan to pose as the wife.

The uncle wants them to go to a dance with him, so the boys have to dance together. The music director asks them to cut out the wrestling.

With the uncle
Laurel's slight stature makes him a plausible female, but all the body language is wrong in the film, of course for comic effect.
