Tideland (2005, Canada)

Dickens in wig and lipstick
A has-been rock musician (Jeff Bridges) and a junkie mother are the irresponsible parents of a young daughter, Jeliza-Rose (Jodelle Ferland). Jeliza-Rose is surprisingly sensible, helping both parents with their fixes, but when they both die of overdoses, she continues with life on her own. Some other fantasy characters appear, in particular the simple-minded Dickens (Brendan Fletcher).

This is a surreal fantasy film increasingly becoming a horror film with some pretty nasty elements, and Terry Gilliam's introduction to camera correctly warns you that you may not like the film.

As part of the fantasy action, Jeliza-Rose makes up Dickens with a wig and some lipstick. She had previously partly done this with her father's dead body.

One to avoid really.
