Tacones Lejanos (1991, Spain)

Letal's drag show is in progress
Director Pedro Almodóvar made this surreal drama in vintage style. An aging singer, Becky Del Paramos (played by Marisa Paredes) and her daughter Rebeca, (played by Victoria Abril) get involved in mixed relationships and emotions, and a murder. There is a neat twist at the end.

The US-English subtitles could have been done better though; they're certainly not "subtleties". The subtitled version is released as High Heels.

A major character is this drag artiste, Letal, (played very well by Miguel Bosé).

Rebecca doesn't like Letal's impersonation of her mother
A romantic involvement between Letal and Rebeca develops; at one stage the artiste does an impersonation of Rebeca's mother.

Suzanna is taken to jail
The transsexual actress Bibí Andersen gets a part, as a prisoner who goes to jail with Rebeca. She later leads an impromptu prisoners' dance routine.
