Le Sexe des Étoiles (1993, Canada)

Marie-Pierre
Twelve year old Camille (Marianne Cocquelicot-Mercier) is a rather introverted young girl and she is obsessively interested in astronomy.

Her father (Denis Mercier) has been away for five years, and suddenly reappears as a female called Marie-Pierre, causing some disruption to the Mother's life. Camille is desperately affectionate to her father but resolutely refuses to accept the sex change, calling him Papa in public.

The film is quite sad, being realistic about the social situation of the transsexual and her family; and the last ten minutes are quite difficult. The main version of the film is in French; The English title is Sex of the Stars.
