Bob Hope plays an honoured US vaudeville star, Eddie Foy. Hope was not a young man when the film was made, but it doesn't show in the song and dance routines; James Cagney performs too.
It was reported that Bob Hope "ends up in a skirt at one point". I was unable to find any reference to this, and I think it is a mistake.
