A sensitive portrait of real-life tennis star, ophthalmologist and transsexual Dr. Renee Richards. Starting the journey in 1964, things were not easy and we should remember how fast things have changed, in terms of society's and the medical profession's attitude to the matter. The film is realistic in terms of the issues surrounding transition, so far as I could see.
This was a made-for-television film in which Vanessa Redgrave is superb as Dr Richards, on the right in the picture.
Also released as I Changed My Life.
