A documentary debunking organised religion, by Bill Maher, himself prominent in front of the camera. The trouble is that in poking fun at the absurdities of some religious people, he spoils his case by being too clever. There are several sequences where he interviews an earnest person, but adds text on the film contradicting them, which hardly seems reasonable. And choosing some extreme and irrational spokespeople doesn't really debunk religion itself. I was also concerned that in many of the interview sequences, he was being filmed with a camera crew in shot -- so he took two camera crews with him for the shoot. In the tiny Truckers' Chapel, for example, that was just too theatrical.
As part of the illustrative material there was this library film of a gay parade with a very brief shot of this crossdressing participant, looking quite good, I thought.
