Whatever you think about Judy Garland, there is no dout that as a small child she had talent and acting ability way beyond her years. In this film, she plays herself, going for a career on radio. When Hamilton Montmarcy talks to her in a waiting room, he says that he is the standby organist, in case a billed performer is sick; but in nearly a year this has never happened.
Judy's character then feigns loss of voice to give him a chance, but he passes out before playing a note.
His character, played by Franklin Pangborn, is recorded as an effeminate man; but there is no transgender element to this.
