Raising Arizona (1987)

The transsexual woman
An off-beat film in which a childless criminal couple decide to create a family without the procreation part.

In the setting up scenes at the beginning, Nicholas Cage's character is in jail, in a group therapy session. A hard looking black inmate declares he feels like a woman trapped in a man's body.

"Well, sometimes I get the menstrual cramps real hard."

Cage in curlers
Much later Cage is in a fantasy supermarket run getting supplies for the baby; he runs up and down the aisles, dodging shots from a guard; for an instant he is a woman with curlers and everything.
