La passion Béatrice (1987, France)

Nils dressed as a girl A very well made film about a nasty, abusive father in medieval France. When he was a boy, his own father left for a crusade, and gave him a dagger, charging him to look after his mother and other womenfolk. Discovering a man having intercourse with the mother, the little boy killed him outright.

Having grown up, he is a violent man -- maybe this is the message of a difficult film -- and incest and brutality follow. When he decides his own son is insufficiently manly, he dresses him in a sister's dress and makes him the quarry of a sort of hunt, which can only end in death.
