Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Ang (2005, Philippines)

Max with his friends A young boy, Maxi, has feminine tendencies, and is obviously destined to be a transsexual. He lives happily with his family, who are not bothered by his orientation. He participates in beauty pageants, and starts to wear make-up, and increasingly associates with gay friends.


Max and the policeman He gets to know a friendly policeman, Victor. The pair become close friends -- and Maxi does his best to make it a full-blown romance, but when a murder is committed by Maxi's brother, things turn sour.

Despite the negative overtones of the environment, this is a charming story. The film has also been released under the English title of The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros.
