The Perils of Pauline (1947)

The Perils of Pauline
A loosely written biography of the actress Pearl White, written as a light musical comedy.

Early in the film, our heroine gets a break from her sweatshop job in the garment industry, when she has to go to a theatre to deliver a costume. She goes with the leading lady, who is by now very late -- the show should already have started. The management, desperate to avoid trouble from the restless audience, are forcing the stage manager, played by Billy de Wolfe, into a corset -- he will have to play the leading lady's role.
