Polizeirevier Davidswache (1964, West Germany)

It was a tough job keeping law and order on Hamburg's Reeperbahn; the 1960's scenario seems very tame to us now, but no doubt was all very shocking to a middle class audience at the time.

The plot involves the station police officer himself getting into a dangerous situation when a violent criminal comes looking for revenge. In the preliminary build up, a female officer is going to strip search a minor offender, who, gasp, turns out to be a bloke in drag.

The film-makers' take on the scenario is revealed by the alternative English titles:

Hamburg, City of Vice, and
Seven Consenting Adults.
