Spartaco Meniconi is an rather unsuccessful petty thief in Rome, and he has a pregnant wife Amelia. He can't find proper work and in the end decides to take a job as a drag artiste.
Spartaco Meniconi is an unsuccessful petty thief with little fortune, living in Rome. His wife Amelia is pregnant and he is unemployed; they are staying with her brother, Agenore, who wastes no opportunity to remind him of his generosity. Spartaco tries to find work, but he keeps getting propositioned by men, because of his good looks. He doesn't like this at all, because he considers himself to be a red-blooded heterosexual. Eventually he is persuaded to dress as a woman and to go on the street to earn a living; reluctantly he does so.
But it goes too well: the first customer is a very rich, mature Count, Nereo, who wants to marry Spartaco-Marina. Nereo offers to set "her" and her family up in an apartment in the centre of Rome. Spartaco's wife and brother think this is an excellent idea, and give no thought to how the "marriage" might end. Spartaco eventually is driven to explain the truth to his lover, but by now Nereo has got used to the family, and says that he is happy to continue living together with them all.
But Nereo is sexually attracted to Amelia and soon she is pregnant by him. She gives birth to a beautiful child, and Nereo wants to be the Godfather.
