The years rolled by and Arthur Lucan continued making "Old Mother Riley" films with his wife Kitty McShane playing the daughter. Never sophisticated humour, the films suffered from having no real plot, merely offering opportunities for repeating the outrageous mannerisms of the title character.
After getting her pub closed down for infraction of the alcohol licensing laws, Mother Riley goes to Portugal where her daughter is staying with a man friend. Getting caught up with gangsters, Mother Riley pays a lot of money for a mantilla, a Spanish headdress that partly conceals the face, and when wearing it she is mistaken for the performer of a piano concerto. The actual artiste has been delayed, and Mother Riley is dragged on to the stage by mistake, and naturally gives a virtuoso performance.
It's a terrible film.
