Origine contrôlée (2000, France)

At the party
Patrick (Patrick Ligardes) is 30, and has been struggling to get a job. His relationship with his partner is a bit strained, but he is persuaded to go to a fancy dress party at the company where she works. Everyone goes dressed as the opposite sex. As only happens in films, all the outfits are fabulous, although the women's male gear is a bit boring, and the moustaches aren't very convincing.

But Patrick has an argument with his partner and storms out of the party into the street, still in drag. He can't get home and goes to a bar instead. Zoubida (played by Karim Belkhadra) is a "real" transvestite, as it were, and she follows Patrick in to the bar. Evidently she is an illegal immigrant, and she surreptitiously swaps passports with him. [Why not just take his passport? Why would a thief leave their identity with the victim?]

Zoubida meets Patrick
Back in the streets, Patrick is soon picked up by the police, and as his identity papers show him to be a known illegal immigrant, he is very quickly on the way to be deported, and still in drag. While waiting for deportation he has made friends with some of the illegals, and together they manage to escape from their escorts, but Patrick is handcuffed to one of them, and yes, he is still in drag.

This is just about the least believable drag storyline I have ever seen.
