Orlando (1993)



Orlando and Queen Elizabeth
 A fantasy film of Virginia Woolf's 1928 novel. Orlando (played by Tilda Swinton, sitting) is an epicene but romantic young man at the court of Queen Elizabeth I (played by Quentin Crisp, kneeling, attaching a garter of honour to Orlando's leg.

Orlando is commanded by Queen Elizabeth to remain eternally young, and he manages to do so. However, returning later from the Orient, he becomes disgusted with men, and awakes the next morning as a woman.

Crisp as Queen Elizabeth
 Quentin Crisp was an interesting choice to cast as the elderly Queen Elizabeth.
