Nicholas and Alexandra (1971, UK)

The impromptu drag dance show An overlong epic film about the last years of the last Czar of Russia, whose weakness and indecision led to the death of thousands of his subjects and to his own demise. This is really a "relationships" film and the attention to historical accuracy is rather scant. There are quite a lot of cameo scenes where some massive event is signified in a trite ten-second clip, and this is quite disconcerting and makes the narrative jerky.

There is an opium-fuelled session with Rasputin and two of the royal princes. One of the princes feels that Rasputin must need the attention of a "girl" so he goes and chooses a young man from an orchestra performing elsewhere in the court buildings, and a few seconds later we see him performing in drag. Rasputin is evidently pleased with the idea and for a moment dances erotically with the drag dancer. I don't know that there is any factual basis for this.
