One of the robbers
Starring Barry Sullivan and Arlene Dahl, this is a kind of film noir about an insurance agent who falls in with some unscrupulous mobsters (are there any other kind?).

The transgender scene that interests us happens about midway through the movie: two of the mobster thugs rob a ladies' lounge in an upscale theatre, both of them dressed in high society drag (opera gloves, jewellery, furs, etc.). One is disguised as a brunette, the other a blonde. The "brunette" looked pretty good!

There wasn't a dressing/transformation scene, but there is a "de-wigging" one as the two thugs drive off in the getaway car, removing their disguises.

I like this movie because I can't really recall any other movies in this era -- just after the Hays Code -- where the transgender content was "realistic" and not played for laughs. Aside from Lynne Carter, that is.
