A posthumous biography of Lon Chaney, who achieved legendary fame by his ability to portray almost anyone else in film roles.
However his film work was limited to male roles, and there are only two drag routines in the film; in the picture, he is playing one of the crooks in The Unholy Three, where one of them pretends to be an old woman as part of a trick to steal money. James Cagney is on stage playing that character.
Earlier in the film we have seen him in partial drag to amuse his small son.
