The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976)

The ambiguous David Bowie This is a strange film about a man from another planet who comes to earth and has some msyterious patents sufficient to buy out most of the American business sector. The principal role is played by David Bowie, and he was not a strong actor; much of the dialogue and manner of delivery seems reminiscent of cheap porn.

Bowie achieved fame as a musician, and his gender-ambiguous presence was what made his name.

The Kabuki actor He is in a Japanese restaurant, learning the ways of earth people; there seems to be a Kabuki performance going on, and he draws some conclusions about earth people from it. In Kabuki, female roles are customarily performed by men, although it is not possible to be certain that this custom was followed here.
