Ma Vie en Rose (1997, France)

Ludovic in Zoe's dress A year in the difficult life of a seven year old boy who knows he's really a girl; a very young transsexual boy and his well-meaning, but ignorant parents.

The film is widely considered to be an accurate portrayal, but the difficulties are not resolved in the story and there is no happy ending.

Ma Vie en Rose (My Life in Pink, quoting a song by Edith Piaff) is in French with English subtitles; there's also a dubbed German version, "Mein Leben in Rosarot".
