Ingenious science fiction film; Martians land and attack the World. Computer generated characters were used for the aliens, avoiding the usual sci-fi problem that all the aliens look like human actors with bits added on.
The humour is a bit inconsistent, and at times I wasn't sure if it was being played as a straight thriller or (near the end) as pure slapstick. But there are some excellent sequences in the film, and some really funny lines, and I recommend it, especially to those who don't like normal sci-fi.
It's in this list because the aliens send one of their number down in their idea of the appearance of a human woman to gain access to the White House, which she does. The part is played by Lisa Marie, who only a couple of years earlier was in the biopic of Ed Wood, the cross-dressing film producer who famously made an awful flying saucer film. Interesting link, eh?
Of course her role here is only transgender if we assume that all the aliens in the flying saucer are male: but we've already heard that they have no genitalia, so I'm afraid I'm not convinced that this one is actually transgender. Excellent film, though, thoroughly recommended.
