The Life of Juanita Castro (1965)

Fidel Castro smokes a cigar It is scarcely credible that Andy Warhol built up a cult following and persuaded people to part with good money to see his work.

In this film we have about an hour of static camera, filming people seated in three rows of a theatre, repeating lines read out to them aloud by the scriptwriter. There is no attempt at realism or actual acting, and the "titles" are read out by Warhol as well.

This section is "Fidel, take out your cigar and light it." Fidel Castro is played here by Mercedes Ospina. Fidel's brother Raul, and Che Guevara are also "played" by women.

I've seen everything now.
