Heavy and humdrum crime thriller. A San Francisco detective is obsessed with catching a serial killer for over 20 years. When the detective learns that he has only a few weeks of life left, he tries his one last shot - taking the suspect for a ride down memory lane, hoping to force him into a confession. The story is based on the unsolved "Zodiac" case from the 1970's.
Part of the plot involves revisiting the seamy areas of the city; here a transvestite hooker called "Doris" is involved. The Canadian actor Robert Dugdale plays the hooker; I think this is Dugdale's only film appearance; he is a stage actor by profession.
