The Life of Brian (1979)

Going to the stoning
A film taking a humorous view of part of the life of Christ. It's typical Monty Python humour, but much better written than some of the other feature length films.

Terry Jones plays Mrs Cohen, the mother of Brian, who initially is a naughty adolescent inspired by the Messiah. She takes Brian to a public stoning. Women aren't allowed to go to these, so she has bought a false beard to by-pass the rules. Here in the picture she is buying some stones.

Loretta gets the right to have babies
Eric Idle plays a man who wants to be called Loretta and to be able to have babies. In a good spoof on factionalism of political idealists, this generates a lot of argument which is finalised by passing a resolution demanding, for him, the right to have babies.

The graffiti artist gets a lesson in grammar
I particularly liked the Roman centurion who lectured one of the Judeans on the grammatical errors in his Latin graffiti, (pic), and Caesar's inability to spot the fact that the crowd is laughing at him.
