The Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk 2 (1993, Hong Kong)

The chopstick thrower
Sequel to the Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk, the film starts immediately with a grainy monochrome "Story So Far" section, in which we see again Sai-Yuk's escape dressed as a girl from the first film.

When the film itself starts, Sai-Yuk is entering a restaurant and is aided by a girl pretending to be a man, who is an expert at throwing chopsticks. She turns up later as one of his wives.

The assassin
Meanwhile the provincial governor has come to town, and at a gathering of the townspeople the general idea is for everyone to announce what wonderful improvements to life in general have been made possible by his wise leadership. A woman comes forward and asks the governor to name her baby, but it turns out to be a ruse to assassinate him: the woman was wearing a latex mask, and is a man, but not seen as such on screen.

Mum comes to the rescue
Later in the film, the hated Japanese invaders have arrived, and Sai-Yuk isn't coming out of the fight too well. Fortunately this, er, Samurai man comes to his rescue ... it turns out to be his Mother again.

As with the previous film, I found this entertaining. And how do they do the special effects?

The film was also released under the titles Legend II, Fong Shi Yu II, and Gong fu huang di.
