Bridget (Linda Fiorentino) is a very determined woman, who manages by underhand means to get a lot of money that her husband had; he got it by underhand means too, so don't worry.
She has to stay one step ahead of him, and he wants the money back quite badly. She contrives an elaborate plan to kill him, by manipulating a naive local man, Mike Swale played by Peter Berg, who is infatuated with her.
It's a taut thriller, the best I've seen for a long time from that point of view.
Mike had had a brief marriage with a woman who turned out to be a pre-op transsexual, Trish, played by Serena, and Bridget uses the information to her advantage.
Serena, a genetic woman, only appears briefly, but she went on from this to star in The Blow Job Adventures of Dr Fellatio. Doesn't sound like a positive career move, actually.
