Kukushka (2002, Russia)

Ivan appears in the skirt A moving drama about opposing soldiers from the German and Russian armies respectively, who both need shelter from a neutral woman. She is a Laplander living alone in a remote mountainous place. None of the three can speak any of the others' languages. The Russian is injured and temporarily naked, as his uniform has been burnt. The German has been condemned to death by his own side and has escaped.

Briefly the Russian puts on a skirt as the only available garment.

The film has been released as The Cuckoo in English. The title is a reference to the romantic triangle that develops.
