Kleines Tropikana - Tropicanita (1998, Cuba/Spain/Germany)

A convoluted Cuban crime mystery; a rural policeman, seconded to the big city of Havana, has a personal interest in murder; he narrates the sequence of events by which he eventually solves the mystery.

But the whole film is very confused, with numerous unhelpful flashes forward and backward, and it is quite hard work to follow it.

The dead man (we see in flashback) was searching for his Mother, whom he has never met, and from whom he has received a letter. When he tracks her down, she turns out to be a drag queen masquerading, in the hope of getting immigration (as a woman) to the USA.
