Jason, the unkillable slasher from previous films, is at an experimental cryogenic laboratory where the intention is to freeze him. When people start saying that there is no risk of him escaping, we know that he is going to escape any minute now and he does; but due to his efforts, both he and a female scientist are actually frozen unintentionally.
In the year 2452 some fun-seeking space travellers drop in on the spot on earth -- which has now become uninhabitable; they have colonised another planet. They find the two frozen bodies and revive them. Of course, they say, there is no possibility of Jason escaping and wreaking havoc, so we know that for a second time Jason is going to escape and wreak havoc.
Not as gory as I expected, and not such elaborate special effects either. And I am always surprised how little the technology of things like video screens has progressed in 450 years.
To show us how, ahem, fun-loving and irresponsible the space travellers are, there is a fetishy sex scene in which Waylander wears a whispie nightie; it is shown very briefly.
The X in the title refers to this being the tenth in the Friday the 13th series of films.
