J'embrasse pas (1991, France)

Pierre, or Pierrot to his friends, is just 16. He goes to Paris full of optimism to make himself a better life -- and to discover "real" life. He has been trained as a male nurse, but his real dream is to become an actor.

He gets a bed at the flat of the nurse Evelyne, whom he met the previous summer; and she finds him a job. But he soon loses it, and his relationship with Evelyne goes wrong too, and so does his training at the actors' school.

Little by little he gets pulled into the web of the Paris gay scene, where he meets the beautiful and sensuous prostitute Ingrid. But his dream of finding true love is soon beaten out of him by Ingrid's pimp. Pierrot leaves Paris and looks for a new life in the army. He hopes to get enough experience there to return to Paris and take the city on, on his own terms.
