International House (1933)

Pangborn in fine form
A comedy dominated by W C Fields' larger than life character, but with not a few other top rank actors of the day. The action centres round the launch of a luxury hotel in China.

A reference book cites the film as having transgender content because of Franklin Pangborn's performance. An excellent character actor, Pangborn had carved a role for himself as the meek valet, or office manager, or hotel receptionist in several films, and his mannerisms are certainly a little effeminate; but not really transgender.
