A biography of Bob Dylan; the director uses six different actors to represent Dylan at the various stages of his life. At the stage of the transition to electric guitar, Dylan is represented by Cate Blanchett.
In a BBC discussion about the film, a critic said that Blanchett was the most like Dylan physically, and that he had intended that a woman should play this segment right from the early stages of planning the film. At this stage (he says) Dylan had a certain gender ambiguity, although nothing like the effeminate style of later performers.
This sequence is only brief, and you can see that Blanchett's portrayal is quite appropriate.
