Idomeneo

Idamante and Ilia tell each other of their love
Idomeneo is a Mozart opera, telling a tragic tale of shipwreck and terrible pacts with the gods.

Idamante is the son of Idomeneo, and the role is often (but not always) sung by a female mezzo-soprano. In the picture, Idamante (right, sung by Monica Bacelli) is singing a duet with Ilia in act 3 scene 2. The production is at the Teatro alla Scala, Milan, in 2005.
