In the Bleak Midwinter (1997, UK)

Acting can transcend gender boundaries
A funny film (but be warned, it's very British humour) about a cast of no-hope actors struggling to turn out a performance in a church at Christmas. The characterisations are so strong, and this must have been written from life.

Inevitably there is an exceedingly camp character who has been doing pantomime dames and who dresses up, just in fun of course.

The film has been released in the USA as A Midwinter's Tale.
