Im Reservat (1973, West Germany)

On stage
Rather intense study of an elderly woman and her lodger, an aging drag performer, living in a flat in postwar Berlin. Her tenement is about to be demolished for redevelopment but she doesn't want to go.

He plays a sympathetic role as a substitute son to her, with problems of his own, but this causes friction when the daughter arrives to help with the move. He is in drag or ambiguously dressed through much of the film.

The title is a reference to the Reservations for ethnic groups, as the pair continue in their own reservation and reject the progress of the external world.
