Himalaya (2004, UK)

The falsies are all right ...
This is a actually a BBC mini-series in which Michael Palin traverses Himalayan passes and meets people living in remote locations. Palin was one of the Monty Python team, and his genial manner and personal daring have found him a new role in presenting this kind of programme.

Towards the end of the series, he goes to a remote monastery in Assam. At a temple there, the monks periodically put on a play representing events in the life of the god Vishnu. As numerous milkmaids have to appear in the play, some of the monks have to take on the role.

... but does the bra go that way up?
But the monks aren't that experienced about putting a bra on ...

It's better this way up
One monk is ready and helps the first one.

I will help you fasten it
And he does it up for him.

The performance can begin
So that soon the actual performance can start.

The series was fascinating and informative; it is available on DVD now.
