Hilfe, ich bin ein Junge! (2002, Germany)

This is Emma in the boy's body but her own nightdress
There are two eleven year olds, a boy and a girl. The boy is lazy and mischievous, and the girl is industrious, and she is in strict training for a competitive swimming championship.

The boy finds an old overcoat that actually belongs to a magician; when the boy takes it, he finds a book of magic spells in the pocket, and he tries one of the spells. At this point he changes bodies with the girl, Emma. They are both fairly horrified, and as it happens during the night they find out when they go to pee first thing in the morning. In the picture, Emma is in the boy's body. I'm not sure where the nightdress came from, as they switched bodies while they were asleep.

This is the boy in Emma's body
The rest of the film follows their efforts to get back into the right bodies, eventually with the help of the magician. In this picture, the boy has just awoken and is dismayed to find that he has got long red hair.

There are some surreal elements even for a children's magical plot; the magician gets advice from a pet tortoise, which he conveys in his car strapped down with a sort of leather harness thing. I suppose tortoises aren't very good at hanging on when they go round corners.

Waking up after they have switched back
The lucky charm actually gets destroyed, and the only way out (the magician now reveals) is for some gold that has been obtained honestly to be used as a charm. Well, that's a tricky one, but hey, the swimming championship is today, and the first prize is a gold medal! So the boy, in Emma's body, enters for it, and guess what: he wins! Amazing, eh?

In the picture they have just woken up after switching bodies back again, so now they are in the right bodies but the wrong clothes.

The film is also known as Verzauberte Emma, and in English as Help I'm a Boy!
