Anything the films can do, television does worse, it seems, as in this made-for-TV movie which calls on Tootsie for its inspiration - or outright theft might be more accurate. If Dustin Hoffman can play a woman, then why not have the actress Robin Douglas playing a man when she finds it hard to get a job as a female sportswriter, but much easier when she's 'one of the boys'.
It's supposedly based on a true story adapted from an article in the Village Voice by Carol Lynn Mithers. However, as part of the plot has our hero/heroine being lusted over by sexy women while on the job, as it were, I think that's more down to artistic licence than an everyday problem for aspiring sportswriters.
