A boring and overblown narrative of a man's career in American espionage and counter-espionage. It is interesting to compare this with British approaches to the theme (which are equally prone to be boring and overblown, but which are fundamentally different in philosophy.)
Matt Damon playes Edward Wilson who is recruited in the dressing room immediately following a performance in university amateur dramatics, where he plays a camp version of Buttercup, the Bumboat woman, in HMS Pinafore. Singing in impossible falsetto, he delivers an appalling travesty.
