A Girl Like Me: the Gwen Araujo Story (2006)

Chssoing a dress
A rather weak film about a transsexual's true story, ending with a hate murder. The film alternates between conventional action and a minimalist courtroom scene (of the alleged murderers). I think the idea is to show us the lame excuses made by conventional society for outrageous acts, but it makes the film heavy going.

Gwen's difficulties in life are pretty familiar to everyone associated with the transgender community, but quite a lot of issues were sidestepped far too quickly for this to have any chance of explaining what is going on to the sceptical outsider.
